About Us
The Founder
Jay N. Barker (1936-2008) founded
Barker Lawn Service in June 1975, offering lawn care services
in Saint Petersburg, Florida, and the surrounding areas.
The Second Generation
In July 1987, Jay's son, Gary Barker, and his wife, Amy, took over the business, expanding it into the tree care industry throughout Pinellas County, renaming it Barker Tree and Lawn Care, Inc.
Due to its success and the growing demand for tree services, Gary and Amy had to focus on this niche and discontinued offering lawn care services.
This is when the company was renamed Barker Tree Service, Inc.
The Third Generation
In January 2023, Gary and Amy's youngest son Adam Barker, who began working with his parents in 2011, took over the business alongside his wife, Juli, becoming the third generation to operate this family-owned business. In October 2024, amid intense demand for tree work following the devastating hurricanes that hit Pinellas County, Juli Barker became an
ISA Certified Arborist.
